Who We Are

The Silicon Valley Panthers are a premier professional basketball organization based in the Bay Area, California, proudly competing in the American Basketball Association (ABA). Built on a foundation of excellence, integrity, and community, the Panthers are dedicated to developing elite athletes while inspiring leadership and personal growth beyond the game.

Under the leadership of Owner and President Shahbaz Mahmood and an accomplished coaching staff, the Panthers have become one of the ABA’s top performing programs, earning three consecutive West Region Championships (2024, 2025, and 2026) and making three straight Final Four appearances.

More than a basketball team, the Silicon Valley Panthers are committed to giving back to the community, mentoring the next generation, and creating opportunities for players to succeed at the highest levels. Every season, the organization strives to uphold its core values of teamwork, discipline, respect, and excellence both on and off the court.

The Silicon Valley Panthers proudly compete in the American Basketball Association (ABA), representing the Bay Area with a commitment to excellence, sportsmanship, and championship-caliber basketball.

As a member of the ABA West Region Red Division, the Panthers consistently compete against top-tier talent and have established themselves as one of the region’s premier programs through sustained success and elite performance.

Shahbaz Mahmood

Azey serves as the Media & Marketing Coordinator for the Silicon Valley Panthers, leading the team’s digital presence, branding, and fan engagement initiatives. From creating compelling content and managing social media to promoting events and strengthening community connections, Azey plays a key role in showcasing the Panthers both on and off the court.

Head Coach SVP

Shahbaz Mahmood serves as President. A native of Pakistan, he received his degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology and has been doing business networking startup for the last 20 years. Shahbaz combines entrepreneurial leadership with a passion for basketball, creating opportunities for young athletes to develop both on and off the court. His vision emphasizes education, leadership, teamwork, and giving back to the community.

Coach Jerry Showers

Assistant Coach SVP

Named the 2025–26 ABA Coach of the Year, Coach Doc Jones Sr. has led the Silicon Valley Panthers to unprecedented success. Under his leadership, the team has captured three consecutive West Region Championships (2024–2026), made three straight Final Four appearances, and compiled an outstanding 57–3 record over three seasons. His commitment to excellence, discipline, and player development has established the Panthers as one of the ABA’s premier programs.

Media & Marketing Coordinator

Coach Jerry Showers has been a driving force behind the Panthers’ growth and success. Known for his dedication to player development and mentorship, he works tirelessly to help athletes improve both on and off the court. Alongside Coach Doc, he has helped build a championship culture rooted in teamwork, accountability, and community.
